Friday Night Blitz!!

It’s the weekend!  Hope everyone is doing well!

I’ll try to keep this quick, cuz frankly I’m tired and ready to hit the sack.  Good chance most of you are there right now.

We recently talked about goal-setting and taking action towards your goals.  My current goals include building muscle (quickly) as I have a goal of putting on 10 lean lbs by Thanksgiving.  (yup, putting on weight before the holidays even hit – quite the anomaly)

So…eating more in general, and eating clean, are steps I’m taking to achieve my goal.  And the reason for a late night post?  Not long ago I finished a great bedtime snack:  a 3 egg omelette with veggies and cheese.  That’s right.  I spent the time in the kitchen at 11 at night to make a ‘snack’ that I like and aligns with my current goals.

Load it up!

What can you take away from this?  Hopefully a couple things…

  • Taking a little extra time to plan and/or prepare your meals can make it easy to transition to a clean(er) diet.
  • While my caloric intake is up, whole foods pack a way bigger punch when it comes to nutrient density.  You get way more benefit from fewer total calories (as compared to processed foods).
  • Since it was night-time, I skipped out on the carbs.  The protein rich omelette will fill me up and provide my muscles building blocks well into the night.  Little to no carbs means no big insulin spike from increased blood sugar, and less chance of storing calories as fat.

These are just quick tidbits, and could all be explained in greater detail, but we’ll save that for another day.  Make it a great weekend.  Have fun, enjoy family, friends and football.  Just don’t sabotage your fitness goals with over indulgence because “it’s the weekend”.

Any caption necessary?

  1. Hey sim,
I’m in the same boat, although I don’t have a 10 pound goal. i am looking to gain lean muscle mass, I’ve got my diet set, but I know that my diet does lack in a few areas. Mostly in my chain amino acids. But are there any supplements that would help me get the gains I’m looking for, but won’t be too harmful to my liver?
    Thanks man,
    Fitzy
