Hey all, hope the snow hasn’t got you down this week.
I certainly prefer to have the option to train both indoors and out, but the seasons don’t always allow that here in Iowa. Regardless, that doesn’t mean we can’t have fun training inside all winter long!
Today I’ve got a couple videos for you from this past week at the gym.
First up is a planking routine a couple friends and I tried out for the first time. It’s 22 different variations of a plank, moving from one to the next without resting.
I set my timer for 11 seconds apiece, approximately 10 seconds per with a little added for transitions. Feel free to give any or all of these variations a try for just a few seconds at a time, and slowly adding time as you progress. Grab a stopwatch and have at it!
Second up today is from a recent lower-body strength session performed by my friend John Lawson.
Beast mode.
We’ve had John using a program based on Jim Wendler’s 5/3/1 with great success. This was his last set of box squats done for max reps.
Sometimes you just gotta get after it.
John: “Is that 20?”
Sim: “Nope, one more.” 🙂
As the temps keep dropping and the sun sets earlier, stay active, pop your vitamin D, and have some fun with your training. Crush those winter blues!
I’ll be back next week with some of my personal training footage to give you a look at what I’ve been up to. Till then, peace!
